The Spill

On April 20th, 2010 an oil spill caused an explosion on an oil rig off the coast of Louisiana in the Gulf of Mexico. Eleven rig workers went missing and 17 were injured. Since that day it has been reported that tens of millions of gallons of oil has spilled into the Gulf. Attempts to contain and control the spill are being made. This could be the largest U.S. environmental disaster in history.

Some wildlife seems to have been affected by the spill already as we have seen in images and footage on the news. But have we seen the worse to come?. Will we actually know and understand the destruction this spill will cause and will the future generations be suffering from it's effects?

To learn more, Goggle the Gulf Coast Oil Spill/Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill. There is way too much information out there so it's best you start looking on your own and educating yourself:). You will also be directed to the most recent news. We will also try and update the blog as well.

On a side note...

We are not here to point fingers at people or organizations who might have been involved with this disaster because when it comes down to it ALL HUMANS are responsible to some degree for this spill. We know that the environment (natural and societal) is going to suffer and so there is no point in just waiting to see what unfolds. Take action by donating or helping in other ways or maybe both. Working together as one global community is how we are going to make a change or at least help clean it up.
